A PIN prompt may also occur if the same user has been enrolled multiple times. To avoid duplicate enrollments, enable the “Prevent Same User From Enrolling Twice or More” option in the FACEIO Console for your application.

PIN codes act as an additional security layer against spoofing or ambiguous matches and become increasingly important as your user base grows, particularly when scaling to thousands of enrolled users.

PIN codes are normally not required during authentication. In your case, the PIN prompt appeared because the face match confidence fell below the expected threshold, which is commonly caused by low webcam image quality, poor lighting, or unstable capture conditions.
